Did you know excessive sitting can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity? We are sitting way too much!
Many people have a typical office job where they have to be seated for 8 hours a day. Are these people doomed or is there any way to counter the ill effects of sitting?
The good news is it's possible to counteract “sitting disease!”
4 tips to help reverse the negative effects of sitting!
1. Hire a professional to design create a health program
Hire a trainer or training team to design efficient and effective workouts through resistance training to create circulation and rebuild those slowly dying muscles.
2. Take hourly mini breaks.
Move for three minutes every hour to increase circulation! Try doing 30 squats and 10 pushups then continue on with your work.
3. Watch your activity with a tracker
set a weekly step goal to acheive. We suggest starting at a total of 70 000 steps a week. We like to suggest weekly goals instead of daily. If you have a bad day and only get in a few steps then you would be able to make it up the next day.
4. Schedule walking meetings.
Apart from getting you on your feet, walking meetings are actually more productive than those held in chairs. The energy and your focus is far greater when walking and talking. We try to schedule all our meetings as walk and talk meetings.
