We recommend eating something within 30 minutes after your workout. Your body needs to be refuelled with top grade fuel to continue to look and perform like a Ferrari. If you choose to skip a meal or give it poor grade fuel your body could start running and looking like Prius or Smart car. You want to fuel your body with the right ratio of carbs and protein to repair the microdamage that exercise does to your muscles.
We’re all busy, though. And sometimes, fitting in a 30-minute workout and then rushing off to the next obligation leaves us no time to eat. If you are in a rush like most of us we recommend a quick shake.
We use our favourite brand of protein, we currently like Isobolic or Magnum Quattro and a Scoop of Genesis and then 2 or 3 pieces of Sinless Dark Chocolate. This gives you the perfect fuel you need to help repair those tired muscles.
But if skipping a post-workout meal or shake becomes a habit, you risk sabotaging your fitness goals. You will not repair as fast, which may lead to injury or burn out. You will not perform at the top level for your next workout slowing down your goals even more. Skipping a post-workout meal every once in a while isn’t a huge deal, but it should never become a habit.
We fill up these mason jars weekly with all the right nutrients we need and then keep them in my gym bag so that it's simple and we can't fail. All these little steps over the course of a year add up to one big positive change or could be either be no change at all or a change for the worse. Set yourself up for good habits.
Exercise should be meditative and fun. If you want to know more about having fun working out optimally send us a message. With the right plan you can look forward to 3 -4 half hour workouts a week and acheive insane goals.
